About the event
Our Mandala Vinyasa Retreat is the opportunity to immerse your mind and body in the deep and transformative wisdom found in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Guided by the elements of nature, the meridian lines in the body and the energy of our seasons, this retreat strategically works to release deep holding patterns in the body and mind and free up vital, healing energy. The ancient wisdom of TCM is brought alive with the electrifying practice of Mandala Vinyasa practice in the morning and sealed with the meditative container of Yin and Soundhealing in the evening.Â
The Yang practice of the Mandala works on the conscious aspects of the mind. The Intention of the Mandala Vinyasa practice is to honor the creative energy in all its manifestations. The practice integrates the spiral patterns that nature uses to shape and create the material and energetical substances into our bodies. It opens us into deeper introspection as we move and expand around the mat, while exploring circular movements with our bodies. It leads us into places that perhaps our awareness would not have access to by following a linear pattern. The power of this practice resides in the fact that it follows a specific purpose and methodology. The clear intention of the practice allow us to revisit groups of muscles or target areas of the body that will help us reach our goal. This repetition is a constant massage that starts with the Sun Salutes or Warm Up and is reinforced in different perspectives in the Standing and Seated Series, creating familiarity and comfort in its objective.
Yin works on the subconscious mind, unravelling the stuff we never truly dealt with at the opportune moment when it was held in the conscious mind. As a modern society of suppressants and consumers, we have become masterful at avoiding any kind of emotional discomfort. Over time, all our residual traumas become so deeply ingrained into the subtle fascia layers of our bodies, that they form part of the pysche, lurking deep within, waiting to be later triggered over and over again.
When you practice Yin yoga, you are creating nuturing space within the body and mind, to be present and to experience all of your emotions in full without the feeling of overwhelment.Â
Learning the art of softening, of letting go, and allowing your emotions be present encourages the body to heal and release. Suppressing our feelings day by day becomes exhausting on the mind. Yin yoga creates an internal environment which encourages the mind and body to let go of emotions that aren't serving us well, and become aware of the things that need more of our attention. This helps us work through mental blockages and find more peace, as the practice heals us deeply on a cellular level.
