Adrienne Le Coure -
I have been a spiritual seeker for as long as I can remember. As a child I was starstruck, overwhelmed by the beauty and inherent magic in the world around me. I was hopeful, full of love and found joy in simplicity. This boundless joy slowly unraveled as I entered my teens and early twenties. Heartbreak and loss hardened my spirit and in time, the world became a dark place and fear permeated my being. I lost the vibrancy and wonder that I had once existed in. Most of us have had similar experiences of losing touch with that childlike wonder and limitless love. The last decade of my life has been a quest to reclaim the boundless joy I came into this world with.
“Someone gave me a box full of darkness. It took me years to understand that this, too, was a gift.” -Mary Oliver
My journey with yoga has been central to this healing process. The personal yoga practice I have cultivated in the last 10 years has inspired revolutionary transformations for me on the physical, emotional and spiritual levels. I have found true freedom and I have rekindled my hopeful spirit. I have found solace in my heart and I have quieted my mind. Fear is no longer the driving force in my life. Love has taken over. I have learned to regulate my own nervous system and have begun to shift from being reactive to being responsive.
This passion for yoga has lead me all over the globe and I have fallen deeply in love with the culture and people of this beautifully complex world. My experience in traveling has been a powerful healing salve. It has shattered my heart wide open. I have been blessed to have studied yoga throughout the world with numerous phenomenal teachers. I completed my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training in Dharmsala, India with Chandra Yoga International. I completed my 300 hour Advanced Yoga Teacher Training in Mysore, India with Ayur-Yoga Eco Ashram. Both of these trainings were intensive month long immersions that emphasized classical Hatha practices and traditional yogic philosophy. Throughout my journey with yoga, I have continued to deepen my knowledge and understanding of the practice. My additional training includes a 3 week immersion at The Sivananda Ashram in Madurai, India, a 2 week Ashtanga Intensive with Ellen Johanson in Sri Lanka, 2 week Ashtanga intensive with Joanna Darlington in Montana, USA and extensive study and experience in trauma sensitive yoga. I have assisted 200 hour teacher trainings and have hosted various workshops on the healing power of yoga. I have taught in the United States, Guatemala, Sri Lanka, Greece, UK, Morocco and Spain.
I am truly honored to be able to share the gifts I have received on the mat with students around the world. My teaching experience has ranged from luxury retreats to refugee camps. My heart lies in the work I am doing out of the studio and in the trenches, bringing yoga to the sick, the elderly and those who have experienced trauma. I am deeply passionate about utilizing yoga as an instrument to empower marginalized communities and provide healing for physical and emotional wounds. My classes have a strong emphasis on self empowerment, connecting movement with breath and the practice of ever-refining our postures. I believe that our physical practice of yoga is the corridor to the place within each of us that has never been wounded. It is the crucible that dissolves separation and opens us to the divinity in all things. I integrate pranayama and meditation into each practice.
